Join us for a special cooking class celebrating the rich culinary traditions of Black history through the lens of the "Shoebox Lunch." During the era of segregation, African American travelers often packed meals in shoeboxes for long journeys to avoid the discrimination of roadside diners. These meals became symbols of resilience, community, and creativity.

In this hands-on class, participants will learn to prepare classic shoebox lunch items, including fried chicken, deviled eggs, collard greens, and homemade sweet potato pie. Alongside the cooking experience, we'll share the historical significance of these dishes and their connection to the civil rights movement.

Perfect for food enthusiasts and history buffs alike, this class is a delicious way to honor and explore Black heritage through food. All skill levels are welcome. Come ready to cook, learn, and savor the flavors of history!
